A Prayer for Women

Now I lay me, Down to sleep
I pray the Lord, My shape to keep.
Please no wrinkles, Please no bags
And please lift my butt, Before it sags.
Please no age spots, Please no gray
And as for my belly, Please take it away.
Please keep me healthy, Please keep me young,
And thank you, Dear Lord, For all that you've done.

Five tips for a woman....

1. It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job.

2. It is important that a man makes you laugh.
3. It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn't lie to you.

4. It is important that a man loves you and spoils you.

5. It is important that these four men don't know each other.

Foot Note: One saggy boob said to the other saggy boob: "If we don't get some support soon, people will think we're nuts."

Sometimes We Need to be Reminded

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by:holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, heasked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this. He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. Well, he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air. My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20.

Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you.

The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or whowe know, but by WHO WE ARE and WHOSE WE ARE. You are special - Don't EVER forget it." If you do not pass this on, you may never know the lives it touches, the hurting hearts it speaks to, or the hope that it can bring. Count your blessings, not your problems. "And remember: amateurs built the ark .. professionals built the Titanic.

If God brings you to it - He will bring you through it.

Contacts

A woman is stopped by the cops for speeding, the officer goes up to her & asks to see her driver's licence, she hands him her licence;

"Hmm, on your licence it says you wear glasses, I don't see you wearing them, I'm going to give you a ticket."

The lady: " But I have contacts"..

The Officer shouted back: " I don't care who you know lady, you're getting a ticket."

Realistic laws that Newton forgot to state

Realistic laws that Newton forgot to state - (aka Murphy's Law)

LAW OF QUEUE: If you change queues, the one you have left will start to move faster than the one you are in now.

LAW OF TELEPHONE: When you dial a wrong number, you never get an engaged one.

LAW OF MECHANICAL REPAIR: After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch.

LAW OF THE WORKSHOP: Any tool, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner.

LAW OF THE ALIBI: If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the next morning you will have a flat tire. BATH THEOREM: When the body is immersed in water, the telephone rings.

LAW OF ENCOUNTERS: The probability of meeting someone you know increases when you are with someone you don't want to be seen with.

LAW OF THE RESULT: When you try to prove to someone that a machine won't work, it will!

LAW OF BIOMECHANICS: The severity of the itch is inversely proportional to the reach.

THEATRE RULE: People with the seats at the furthest from the aisle arrive last.

TheTV of Today

The television was once an amazing invention, a novelty. That title has now turned completely as it is the platform to spread hate, violence and depression to a larger part of the world in an instant. In the USA they talk about the growing number of cases of depression and violence. Hello?! Has anyone watched the tv lately? Who wouldn’t get depressed? Images of people getting shot, dead bodies, pornography, corrupt politicians, wide spread diseases and hatred towards various religions is strewn across almost every channel. Talk about poisoning your visual senses and your delicate mind. Where is it going to end? Nothing shocks anyone anymore! Instead of trying to desensitize the situation, it gets worse! TV and Movie executives create a need that was not there in the first place and push out a more gruesome movie every time. At this rate, where is the world going? Where are we going?

An Update

Hi!

I know it's been a while since I last wrote something....I started this blog with the determination to be consistent, but somewhere along the way I became slightly lazy! Not that I didn't have things to say, just that they didn't seem like they were worth putting down in writing. Sitting at home and watching tv the whole day doesn't add to the energy to get up and get going, however, I find that my recovery has been a swift one and I'm getting stronger everyday. Still have swelling here and there and there are the occassional aches and pains if I try and do too much but overall I'm bouncing back just fine.

Talk to you tomorrow! :-)

Sincerely,

Mimi

Try It

Why wedding ring should be put on the fourth finger??

Thumb represents parents Second finger represents brothers & sisters Center finger represents own self Fourth finger represents your partner Last finger represents your children Really interesting Why wedding ring should be put on the fourth finger?? Pls read the following, you may not believe that really god made this a miracle (this is from a Chinese excerpt) but still interesting! Firstly, join your palms as shown in photo below, center finger bend and put together back to back Secondly, let the rest of the 4 fingers touch tips to tipGame begins, follow the instructions below for all the 5 fingers but only 1 pair can split.

Try to open your thumb, the thumb represents parents, it can be opened because all human being do go thru sickness and death. Whoever may be, our parents will leave us one day.
Please close up your thumb, Then open your second finger, this finger represents brothers and sisters, they do have their own family which is the reason that they will leave us too.
Now close up your second finger..

Open up your little finger, this represents your children. Sooner or later they too will leave us for they got their own living to live nevertheless, close up your little finger…
Try to open your fourth finger in which we put our wedding ring; you will be surprised to find that it cannot be opened at all. Because it represents husband and wife, this whole life you will be attached to each other.

Hmmm....

Passed the Exams

I was just thinking about exams...Remember that tension and stress just before writing a major exam? The pressure coming in from all sides to do well...the pressure of our future which threatens us to be difficult to grasp if you don't get high marks! Now come to think of it, it's not that big of a deal...well, actually, once you pass that stage it's not that big of a deal...I don't think those slogging it out at this very moment would agree with me much! lol!!

Your Health

Your know what the most important thing is in the world besides your loved ones? It's your health. Without it, you can't help yourself and you can't help others. Think about it...Even a small cut on your finger can irritate the life out of you and disrupt your day to day activities. We should be more carfeul how we treat our precious bodies because they truly are miraculous!

Be Thankful

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times.During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary, because it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things.A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings.

Moving

My sweet husband got a job in Mississauga, one of the larger more populated cities of Canada and hence we're moving from the quiet remote little town of St. Thomas to the hustle and bustle life of a big city. Everything is greater...cost of living, population, noise, restaurants, and social life...in other words, a little scary. Maybe its just the initial phase of getting used to things. I'll keep you posted on the butterflies.

Huuuuuugggyy

Ah, the power of a hug. We underestimated it, sometimes don't even take notice of it, but its important and even mood changing! Energy is passed on like little waves of shock...the longer you embrace the more of that warm good feeling is exchanged! Never be afraid to give a hug and more importantly to receive one. Especially from your significant other, hold that hug for just a little longer to show how you care and to make them feel loved...Yes, a hug does wonders!! :-)

What We Forget to Remember

We forget....

We forget to enjoy life...
We forget to show how we feel...
We forget to make great memories...
We forget to make time for our loved ones...
We forget to just relax and watch the sunset...
We forget to give a hug that lasts longer than 2 seconds...

Time just passes us by doesn't it?....Remember...Don't Forget!

Whats Luck Got To Do With It

'Luck', what a funny word! What does it mean? Who invented it? Consider all the amazing things you have in your life (that which is precious to you), would you say that you are 'lucky' to have happiness and be in the place you are or can you associate it to something greater? Now consider fate or destiny..they are all related on a certain level...and basically indicate that things fall into place when the time is right and that no matter what happens there is a reason. I'm a strong believer that there is a purpose for everything...

We were sitting with friends and talking about how you reach a place in your life where your life could go on either path...in my case...I could have ended up going to England ('could' being the key word here), but instead didn't receive the scholarship to Oxford and ended up studying in India...Well, as fate would have it...because of that I met my husband and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Yes, fate has a funny way of making life figure it itself out! Hee hee :-)

Laugh Aloud

We just had some company over...cousins. It was the nicest thing! And yesterday we had our neighbours and friends over to pass the time with a couple of beers and a few laughs. Sometimes we take it for granted that human contact and communication is one of the most important things in life...to have fun and be yourself. Life isn't enjoyable if you can't be loud and spontaneous now and then! Remember to laugh and sing out loud when no ones looking (or even if they are). You'll make yourself feel good and everyone around you!

Spring is here! Spring is here! The temperatures are slowly climbing and so are the skirts and pants are becoming shorts! I love the green grass and clear skys dabbled with clouds that look like light fluffy cotton strung across the sky. Mr. Winter finally packed his bags and took the next flight out with all his coldness in tow! Woo hoo!

Life in a vegetable state

My friend and his wife got into a conversation about life and death, and the need for leaving wills. During the course of the conversation he told her that he never wanted to exist in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and taking fluids from a bottle. She got up, unplugged the TV and threw out all his beer.

Wife Vs. Husband

A man and his wife were having some problems at home and were giving each other the silent treatment. Suddenly, the man realized that the next day,he would need his wife to wake him at 5:00 AM for an early morning business flight. Not wanting to be the first to break the silence (and LOSE), he wrote on a piece of paper, "Please wake me at 5:00 AM " He left it where he knew she would find it. The next morning, the man woke up, only to discover it was 9:00 AM and he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to go and see why his wife hadn't wakened him, when he noticed a piece of paper by the bed. The paper said, "It is 5:00 AM . Wake up."
Men are not equipped for these kinds of contests.

WIFE VS. HUSBAND
A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, "Relatives of yours?" "Yep," the wife replied , " in-laws"

W O R D S
A husband read an article to his wife about how many words women use a day. 30,000 to a man's 15,000. The wife replied, "The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men... The husband then turned to his wife and asked, "What?"
CREATIONA man said to his wife one day, "I don't know how you can be so stupid and so beautiful all at the same time. " The wife responded, "Allow me to explain. God made me beautiful so you would be attracted to me; God made me stupidso I would be attracted to you!
God may have created man before woman, but there is always a rough draft before the masterpiece.

Love and Communication

It seems that in the end... everyone is striving for this in some form. We want to feel loved and responed to it. We communicate our feelings through a melange of ways. Sometimes its good when we feel settled and happy, sometimes we react in a spoilt-sport manner because we're looking for more. All over the world, no matter what race, shape or colour you are, you crave it and hence it's the unifying and dividing factor. Think about it....the world is ruled by love in all its many forms. I guess it's also one of the strngest commandments....'Love thy neighbour as thy self!'

To take or not to...That is the Question

Well, I hardly slept last night. Had swelling around my hips and lower back. Kept my poor husband up most of the night with my tossing and turning. Strange how I refused to take medicine in defiance of having any foreign objects messing with the natural healing process of my body. In the end I ended up taking a Tylenol (like Crocin) in the morning. So much for resistence:-) In today's day and age, it's the most natural thing to take tablets....but if you think about it, is it?! Is it better to rely on medicines or our body's natural consistution which is built to withstand and heal on it's own and hence would taking medicines only mess with that perfect system? An age old debate no doubt, but very valid....

Life's Course

Have you ever just sat and wondered where your life is going? Or do you trust that the outcome will occur all on its own without giving it much effort? I wonder whether fate is infact something inevitable or is it possible that we have a stronger control over it. Maybe we're like the little ants dancing along, working and following suite, lead and directed by something much greater, so big that it's there but we can't even begin to bring it into focus.

Hmmmm....life is strange isn't it...but I guess that's what makes it so intriguing. You never know what it'll throw at you or is it what we pick and choose of it! :-)

Writer's Block

I'm having one of those moments where I wish I could write something profound and meaningful. I guess you reach that place when you really just want to write something rather than feel the urge to as I often feel. Today, it's more of an inward search down in the depths of my presently hollow brain to decide which of the thousand and one things that make my life the sunny one that it is sooo bright! Hmmmm........

My Nightmare

I had a dream yesterday...more like a nightmare....I was in an big old house with beautiful deep red ceramic floors and large bay windows that overlooked the ocean. There was a small but prestine kitchen which glistened in all its white cleanliness. The bathroom was simple and elegant and the rooms each held a king size bed and an antique dresser. It was a rich owners house and though it was amazing I knew I was not happy and felt an urge to get away but I didn't know how or why....

Moving onto the gigantic main room I found a family whom I've never seen before and everyone was smiling at me. A small dark man came into the room, looked at me and sat down. It became clear to me out of some weird inclining that I'm to be married off to this puffy little man and I remember running to find Rajesh. I find him down the hall and as always he comforts me. Some force pulls me back to the main room which seems soo cold now and I am shown a certificate that shows I'm already married to the other guy and I start sobbing uncontrollably as I yell for Rajesh and cry to my dad and mom who have misteriously appeared in my dream that I want to marry Rajesh and that I love only him...

Well to make a long story short....I wake up sobbing and my darling husband calms me down and whispers words of comfort thinking I'm having another nightmare about the accident to which I turn and desperatly ask.."Are we married?!" WE ARE...and the world is perfect and right again!

Romantic At Heart

In my opinion one of the most romantic things a guy can do is sing to you....even if he doesn't know the words or even lip syncs to a romantic song, it's still one of those things that makes your heart beat faster....especially if he has a special sparkle in his eye for you. I guess it maybe the fact that though it's a well known fact that most men find it hard to express thier feelings on their own, they can always count on someone else's lyrics to get the message across.... and frankly, in the end, that's all that matters...sigh....(me swooning).

The College Days

I remember the first day at college…walking down the long winding paved road which started at a large white gate and ended up in an open court yard surrounded by green grass trees and what seemed to be a grand ancient building. The campus extended over 20 acres and made me seem like even more of a spec in the world. I remember being called a ‘katan’ or jungle creature indicating that seniors ruled and first years were to be treated as almost non-existent though I was close to 5’6”. I was shown to the worst of the 5 hostels on campus and it had the most contradicting name…it was known as the ‘Garden Hostel’ although there was not one flower in sight!. The building looked like it had been in a recent flood, the paint was mouldy, it was so run down. Not exactly the most inviting atmosphere, but it came to be home. And I would soon learn what I already knew….It’s the people that make a place and not the other way around.

Women's Christian College, Chennai

If my life was a play, the mosquito’s on campus would have been strong supporting actors….They came in all shapes and sizes and soon I attached my own identities to them. There was the ‘Schumacher Mosquito’. He was loud and fast. I could almost imagine him wearing a little helmet, goggles and riding in a little sports car. As he approached your ear the humming would suddenly get louder then disappear. Then there was Air force Army Mosquito…one could recognise him by the angle and speed with which he hit…like a fighter jet on a nose dive! Then there was the drunken mosquito…they were hilarious after having their fill at the bar they had drunk so much that there flying was a wee bit on the tipsy side which made thm the easiest to get…’Smack!’ There was only one way to protect yourselves from them…a mosquito net.

I remember the first time I tried setting up the mosquito net around the bed. On first attempt I was able to trap more mosquitoes inside the net than out.. The second attempt was not much better... I sat on the bed and tugged the net around me…I had infiltrators and I looked like a crazy person clapping my hands together in attempts to trying to do away with them. On the third attempt I stood by the bed and madly dashed around the bed, quickly shoving the ends under the mattress…Yes, I had succeeded! Not one mosquito was inside the net…but there was only one problem…neither was I…sigh! The first night didn’t go so well! But now when I look back at this little experiences I laugh…Life sure has a little humour on its own.

One month

A car accident is one of the most traumatic experiences...I constantly relive that day...today it is exactly one month since the accident and emotionally I feel no better than the day it happened. I constantly have flashbacks and feel the hip wrenching pain of a few cars barrelling into us. I speak of this now because I'm scared....My husband had to go out and I'm shivering because everything worries me now... He's my everything and I never want anything to happen to him. I'll be thinking about him every second....It's difficult to see cars, roads and traffice the same way...they all seem out to get us now...or so I feel...maybe this will get better with time, but for now, I' m scared.

Me Back

I'm back...and in one piece!:

My husband and I were the 17th in a 21 car pile up on Highway 401 here which left me with 3 fractures..2 pelvic and one tailbone crack and my husband fortunately with only some bumps and bruises, but considering everything we're lucky to be alive and by the grace of God we'll be fine. Thank you for all your well wishes and prayers. It'll take some time before I'll be running again, but that means more time to spend with my wonderful heroic husband and forever restless doting mom (who came all the way from India when she heard about the accident). This also gives me more time to catch up on all the blogging time I missed! Woo hoo!!

And the Award goes toooooo

So I was sitting at home watching the Oscars with my hubby the other night...it occurred to me that I would absolutely love to be there....No, not watching but winning one, or presenting an award or something..anything to get that view from the stage and see the glamourous sea of 'people'. I used the word 'people' and not 'actors' because that's what they are. Regular people who have been put high up on a pedastil after having struggled by any means necessary to grab the limelight. Funny how, once they have...they dread it and scream at the very people who were once their friends..the photographers. As we watched the naked man statues being handed out one by one, I thought, " We should all get one of those"(Meant the statues!)...
We're acting throughout the day, if you look at it. For example, after a sleepless night when you are anything, but ready to race out the door with a great big smile and sincerely wish the grumpy people you pass a fleeting hi...you do in all honesty with hap hazard grin that seems to shine through.... For that I say....Get your thank you speech ready!Think about it...some mornings all of us deserve an oscar!

The Shoe Box

A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover. In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife's bedside. She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000.

He asked her about the contents. "When we were to be married," she said,"my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keepquiet and crochet a doll." The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness.

"Honey," he said, "that explains the doll, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?" "Oh," she said, "that's the money I made from selling the dolls."

Women will love this..

A Prayer.......

Dear Lord, I pray for Wisdom to understand my man; Love to forgive him; And Patience for his moods; Because Lord, if I pray for Strength, I'll beat him to death because I don't know how to crochet!

Back to Reality

I just witnessed a truck that was barrelling down a parking lot come to a sudden hault and then in the same speed as it was moving forward, the driver put it in reverse and parked it towards the back of a full parking lot as if it was a kids tricycle!!! I have trouble parking a normal size 4 door car straight and this guy parks a massive truck backwards like it was a piece of cake!! Wow!

Sometimes I wish I could be so cool! Then again, it's a bit like what you see in the movies. I remember when the Hindi movie 'Doom' came out, which portrays daring bikers speeding down the highways, doing all sorts of antics, right after the movie ended there were four accidents....a few memebrs of the audience envisioned themselves to be amazing bikers after fantisizing how awesome they are in their heads. Guess beliving in yourself is a good thing

and knowing that you have it in you to do great things is motivating, but believing that you are out of this world...well, let's not over do it...

Cupids Fault

You remember when you were in college and you started having thoiughts about what it would be like to meet 'the one', you're soul mate and all that wishy-washy talk? I remember especially longing for my true love and wondering where he might be and what that feeling would be like after watching such chick flicks and ancient films as 'The Sound of Music', 'Pretty Woman', 'Gone with the Wind', 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', etc. Always managed to snap back into reality thinking that this is in fact reality and 'soul mates', the 'love of your life' and all that hog-wash never existed!

Well, as if to mock and prove me completely wrong, cupid decided to play a naughty trick on me this time....On May 30th I 'had' to meet a guy (eyes rolling)...you know the typical "ArrangedMarriage" setup. Jeez, I used think that it was a bunch of rubbish...I mean, how can two individuals who have never met decide to marry after a little convo. Well, to make matters even stranger...after we met and went our separate ways , I knew that he was 'the one' (sigh!). And as fate would have it, guess he didn't have any objections either...and on Nov. 5th, 2005...we tied the knot...and a year and a couple of months later...I'm still beaming!!!! and So much more in love and awe struck then ever before...so much so that I wish I could kick myself to get my head back on straight....so this is what love does to you! I'm all over the place for my hubby and all I can say is...'It's Cupids Fault!'

What has the World come to?

All we hear is about bombs going off, terrorists, corrupt politicians, drive by shootings, George Bush's I.Q. or rather lack of it, celebrity screw-ups and robberies....Now, if the people at the top are dumb, mixed up or corrupt, we know what direction the world is headed, and though scary, we have come to accept it as a part of life....heck, shows make fun of it! In a weird way, we as a society, have somehow accepted it as norm...Isn't that a scary thought! 10 years from now...Where will we be?
