Randy, Paula, and of course the infamous Simon Cowell arguably make up the essence of American Idol. Each week we tune in to see how rude, bored, or 'tipsy' the judges are when deciding the fate of the young hopefuls. The show is synonomous with making catty remarks, playing on the emotions of sometimes 'overdramatic' teens and helping to tone down an otherwise arrogant few. Not to say that this makes up the majority of the contestants but you have to admit there are a few whose head size is so massive you wonder how that much ego can fit in one head! Alas, there are a few who are sincerely trying and for lack of a better expression 'just can't cut it!'. These are the ones we sympathise with and feel bad for. But the former...you don't mind Simon rearing his ugly head and speaking his mind now and then....I mean, isn't that what makes up the show in the first place?
The recent controversy that rocked Idol (nope, not referring to Paula's ...ehem...confusion over coca cola), I'm referring to Simon saying that one of the contestents looked like a bush baby. The media went crazy condeming the show as becoming too mean......Firstly, this is not the first season of Idol so contestants and everyone else knows what to expect before they walk into that audition room. Secondly, imagine being a judge and listening to hundreds of 'horrid' auditions and whinning throughout the day and lastly, with reference to the Bush Baby comment.....I have no idea what a Bush Baby is, but it did sound funny! As for the Bush Baby himself....he's got himself an agent, gets interview calls on the top television shows and is splashed all over the news...now that doesn't seem mean to me at all... guess it's not that bad to be trashed by Cowell after all!...Just ask the Bush Baby! :-)
